Entries
The 2026 race will be restricted to 280 completed entries (full crew + host club + entry fee paid).
Please refer to the relevant sections below before submitting your entries
ACCEPTANCE OF ENTRIES
The acceptance procedure will be as follows:
- BROE2 will open for entries on Monday 19 October at 13.00 and will close on Sunday 1 November at 18.00
- Entries will not be suspended during this time, regardless of whether or not the race is oversubscribed
- All placeholders must be filled by midday on Sunday 1 November
- If the race is oversubscribed, we will run medal events only – i.e. in events where there's a minimum of 3 entries
- At the close of entries, only completed entries (complete crew, full payment and host club stated) will be considered
- V4H reserves the right to prioritise entries from Tideway and other local clubs who support the event logistically to ensure a number of crews from those clubs are guaranteed the opportunity to take part in an event which could not otherwise take place without that logistical support
- Then, in sequential date and time order of completion on BROE2, all other remaining completed entries up to a maximum of 280 crews will be accepted
- If the race is oversubscribed, your entry may be rejected and a full refund will be issued via BROE2
During the ‘entries open’ period, we will publish a list of completed and incomplete entries by category, which will be updated regularly but not ‘as live’. The list will be available here – V4H entries
If you wish to change category during the ‘entries open’ period for any reason, including to ensure you are in a medal-winning category, please do so by contacting the entries secretary. Please do not withdraw and re-enter your crew as you will automatically lose your time-stamped place in the list of completed entries
Crews withdrawing during the ‘entries open’ period will receive a full refund. There will be no refunds for any crews that scratch after entries have closed
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
It is the responsibility of the individual clubs to enter only crews and coxswains that are sufficiently competent to marshal and race. Crews must be capable of completing a ten-mile outing, and may be on the water for more than two hours, including time spent marshalling before the race: all crews must be on the water and in their marshalling position before the start of the race. 'Slotting in' will not be permitted.
If a club enters a crew that is deemed not to be sufficiently competent, the crew will be escorted off the course and action will be taken against the offending club.
EVENT CATEGORIES
Age-category events for Masters (Veteran) A to K in coxed fours (4+), coxless fours (4-) and coxless quadruple sculls (4x), for open, women's and mixed crews. There will be no novice events.
- Entry fee for 2026 is £90
- Mixed crews must contain at least two women (excluding coxswains). Crews with only one woman may race in the open category
- Composite crews are permitted
- Medals will be awarded to the winners of events with three or more entries. See Note on handicapping, below
Once the provisional start order has been published, crews may not change age category or boat class.
Note on Handicapping
If adjacent age categories each have only one or two entries, the committee reserves the right to amalgamate these categories and apply the appropriate masters handicap so that the competitors in these categories can race for a medal.
If there is an isolated non-medal event – i.e. there is no adjacent non-medal event with which it might be amalgamated, the crew will be offered the opportunity to move down into the nearest available age category. This would be a change of status; handicaps would not be applied. All such offers will be made after close of entries and before the publication of the provisional start order.
HOST CLUBS
All visiting crews must secure boating permission from a host club before submitting entries on BROE2. Tideway clubs must set their own club as a host club in order to complete their entry. Individual host clubs will be able to advise on their capacity, facilities and boating fees.
- There will not be a parking suspension at Putney; standard Sunday parking regulations will be in force
- Furnivall Gardens will not be open for trailers
